What We Do

When the Wounded Heroes Foundation (WHF) was conceived twelve years ago, there were approximately 2,000 wounded men and women back in the US from the Iraq and Afghan wars. Today, there are more than 20,000. Evacuated straight out of the field and separated from their unit, they lose their emotional support base and sometimes even their physical possessions.
WHF provides immediate financial assistance to our heroes and their families. This support includes purchasing plane tickets and hotel rooms to allow families to be together during the long road to recovery; providing Survival Care Packages to Walter Reed, Brooke Army Medical Center, National Naval Medical Centers in Bethesda and San Diego and to the US medical units in Iraq, Afghanistan and Germany; and visiting with our wounded heroes and their families, here in Chicago and in military medical centers throughout the US, to provide additional encouragement and support.
With your help, WHF will continue to help provide much-needed lifelines to these young men and women. Please join us in our endeavors to secure the American Dream for our Wounded Heroes. Donate now, volunteer your time, or simply attend an event, shake the hand of a Hero and tell him, "Thank You."
